Villas for rent in the Cereste Area
The gateway to the Luberon National Park, Cereste is a pretty Provencal village mostly built between the 15-18 centuries. It is a delight to walk around and explore or stop at one of the many cafes for a glass of rose, a pastis or a coffee. This is a great area for walking and mountains bikes are also available for hire. There’s an ancient route linking Cereste with Forcalquier and the Rhone Valley. Leaving the village eastwards is the Nid d'Amour, a walk that leads to the Roman church and the Priory Carluc. The nearby village of Viens is also worth a visit. Perched 630 metres above sea level, Viens dates back over a thousand years and there are still several 13th century houses, plus a restored 14th century Renaissance Chateau. It is at the end of the "Route d'Ochre" named for the red stone which leads to the dramatic "Colorado Cliffs" near Roussillon.
